Pecantioxidants rock!

According to a study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, pecans contain more antioxidants – compounds that mop up tissue-damaging free radicals – than any other tree nut. They also provide notable amounts of zinc, a mineral most often found in animal-based foods.

San Saba is a family-owned company and is the largest pecan grower in the world. All of their pecans are processed in their SQF Level 2 processing plant in Texas. Most of their pecans come from their own orchards and, as a consequence, they can offer consistent quality and reliability.

The SanSaba cold supply chain serves to reinforce that offer. Their new chilled warehouse in the UK facilitates JIT delivery of quality pecans to anywhere in the UK, direct from the processor.

Pecans are native to North America and over 80% of the world’s supply is produced there. There are over 1,000 varieties of pecans. Some of the most popular varieties are Western Schleys, Pawnees, Wichitas, and Desirables.

Over the last several decades, pecans have become increasingly popular on an international level with Europe, China, and the Middle East importing significant amounts.
