We're Way Out West – again!

TradeScope is in New Mexico, Arizona and California this week touring dried fruit and nut producers with a strong group of European buyers.

The first half of our trip was everything pecan in New Mexico and Arizona. We saw some excellent cleaning and shelling plants. Unfortunately, persistent rain across the two states meant that there was no harvesting to see – when wet, harvesters make ruts in the field, which makes picking up after shaking the trees a frustrating business.

We are now on our way from Fresno to Sacramento looking at raisins, almonds, walnuts, pistachios and prunes. The Sacramento segment coincides with the Almond Conference 2019, an event which attracts huge numbers of almond growers/handlers and we'll be there. TradeScope builds and maintains a database of food and beverage buyers in Europe. We are particularly strong in the dried fruit and nut sector because we network at trade shows and events, including the annual INC gathering, as well as organising regular trade missions such as we are currently on. Its been a great trip so far!
